Following on from our article last month revealing the ‘9.99 Range’ of Cartridge Games from The Future Was 8-Bit (TFW8b), VITNO has received their physical copy of one of the titles featured in this range, Ms RodMan.

Developed by Mika ‘Misfit’ Keränen, Ms RodMan is the Commodore 64 sequel to last year’s multi-format release of RodMan,

RodMan is a reimaging of the classic Pac-Man. Not only do you go around maze like screens, collecting round pills while avoiding enemy characters but you can also collect diamond shaped bombs that can be used to blow up and eliminate the bad guys, in the same way as you do in Bomberman. But beware, the bombs can also kill RodMan so you better make sure he is out of range before they detonate.

If you enjoyed RodMan last year or this style of arcade gaming then you are sure to find Ms RodMan quite fun and addictive. The game is more a less an updated version of the original. The only changes made to the game are some minor alterations to the level layouts and graphics, while the sound effects (to my ears) seem to have a little bit more variety and fidelity to them.

The physical cartridge itself is somewhat interesting. Coming with an outer sleeve, the cart is three-quarters the size of your standard C64 cartridge. it actually looks quite cute and is a good variation for enthusiasts who avidly collect physical editions of current C64 games.

I found RodMan to be quite fun to play last year and this sequel is no different. Well worth the consideration if you enjoyed the original release. The game is available in a physical cart format from The Future Was 8 Bit.
